Midstream Sector (Transportation & Storage)
Midstream Sector (Transportation & Storage)
Once crude oil and natural gas are extracted, they must be transported to refineries or storage facilities. The midstream sector includes pipelines, storage tanks, shipping, and trucking companies that move these resources safely and efficiently.
Workers in the midstream sector play a vital role in ensuring a continuous and secure energy supply. However, they often face challenges such as:
- Exposure to hazardous materials and potential environmental spills.
- Workplace accidents due to equipment failures or poor maintenance.
- Long hours and physically demanding conditions.
- Limited job security, particularly for contract-based workers.
“Connecting Energy, Delivering Stability – Safe Routes, Secure Futures!”
NUSOP fights for the rights of midstream workers by:
- Enforcing stringent safety protocols to prevent spills, explosions, and exposure to harmful substances.
- Advocating for better wages and benefits for transport and storage workers.
- Negotiating fair contracts and ensuring employment stability for subcontracted workers.
- Working with government bodies to implement modern infrastructure improvements, reducing risks and increasing efficiency.
By strengthening midstream operations, we not only protect workers but also contribute to the stability of Somalia’s oil and gas supply chain.
